  Pool grub
by: Woody, 22-02-2013 10:24 AM (#1)

During the week was playing a league game and the landlord of the pub we were playing was going to refuse to give us food cause we hadn't spent enough on juice. I've played enough pub sport in my time to know that you should eat before games and not rely on last weeks sandwiches and pies that are that bad they don't contain horse. I've noticed over the last couple of years the standards dropping in pool grub. What's the script in other leagues has a team ever been refussed grub due to not spending enough?

our home venue Caffufels in Paisley gives excellent grub
it is usually two full pizzas, wedges and skinny fries per team

In Riley's you mostly pay for it anyway with their pricing structure for home teams.

Most pubs in Edinburgh pretty good though.

Really don't blame pubs for cutting back on the grub. Teams coming a buying 1 can of juice or a glass of water certainly is not going to cover the cost of the food. Have a few beers and enjoy the night , you might get a better deal

That's fair enough if you can do that but I travel 25 miles to play league pool getting a taxi to a league game is going to make it an expensive night.

What team was that woody? They get fined if they don't provide food as per the constitution.

No he gave us the grub I was told though that he wasn't happy by one of their team (I've edited my original post). I'm only asking if this has happened a team getting refussed grub for not spending enough.

Whitburn and Livingston leagues both stopped giving food and drinks unless the boozer takes it upon themself to put it on.

Im sure the Livi league put the yearly joining fee up a bit to compensate this, it did used to be a 20 fine if nothing was put on or game was cancelled.

In this day and age surely a football card would cover the cost of any food being put on.

Not really going to solve the problem that it's still going to cost me at least 60 on taxis Maxi if I was going to drink.

Dont think the Crown team got there bodybuilders physiques eatn suet + sawdust.
More like weekly doses of Bute.
Was it the Crown landlord who was called Dazzatemyhorse on the Falkirk site?
Think the FDPL might need to start an enquiry.

Woody, if its the pub I think you are talking about, nae food would have been the better option. Last season we got a plate of chipolata sausages and chips between the whole team. Not a stats man, but it worked out at 2.3 chips and 1.4 sausages each! They were also honking. Even Dazza would have gave it a miss.
