The whole exercise is to help raise funds for the International Fund to raise money to send all the teams to the World Championships in France.

From first post of this thread by me : "All monies raised from this event shall go to the International fund for the teams attending France".
it doesnt matter what the initial post said....i still think..as a member of the spa..that this fundraiser event still should donate some proceedings to charity....give a little instead of always taking!!

AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO THINKS THIS? FFS!!.

it would have been a great night renzie but big clouds hang over it now for this would be a first to go to a fundraiser with nothing going to charity.....but who cares about less fortunate kids or serious illnesses....as long as yous get to france thats the most important thing.

dont know why you have a bee in your bonnet about this stevie,it is clearly stated that all proceeds go to the international fund.it costs a fiver and for that you will get a night out and a buffet thrown in.i see you have withdrawn from the monklands boys night out that is a pity, as i was looking forward to a night in your company as a good time is always assured.
dont deny yourself what should be a good night stevie for a trivial matter like this.so i am starting the "comeback to the night out cue"campaign now other supporters append names below

altogether now.....we love you cue..oo we do,we love you cue..oo we do,we love you cue..oo we do,oh cue..oo we love you!

Yes Stevie, you DO seem to be the only one who thinks this.

This whole night was set up SPECIFICALLY to raise funds for the world championships in France.

Not against the idea of supporting a charity gig, but it was made clear from the start what all the proceeds were going towards in relation to this event. End of.[/quote]

slightly biased assumption there i feel..just because those who are most likely to benefit from not giving some of the raised money to charity fail to post..doesn't mean that's the "" END OF "" as so politely stated...

Although to be fair it was stated that it was solely for the benifit of france teams...but stevies suggestion of parting a little to charity has obviously silenced a few ...as i'm sure he isn't alone at all !!

As the old saying goes George, charity begins at home.

And I don't think you can take peoples silence as possible support for Stevies thoughts.....

Can Labour count all the people who never voted in the General election as a vote for them in that case?

agreed Maxi , that peoples silence doe'nt disprove stevies thoughts are supported but neither doe's it prove he's unsupported which is my point.

all i've read is that he isn't supported but untill " peoples " actually come online and actually post they don't support his views and want none of the cash going to a worthwhile chariity..then stating stevies thoughts are isolated and totally unsupported is indeed not the "" END OF ""

I can see both points of view, for example, there are parents out there who struggle to send their kids to events and there are learning disabled who struggle to get to Brid and may not be able to do so without the huge generosity of many people giving their time and effort.

Yet we are raising funds to send people who have won thousands in prize money from the game or who have a sponsor who could foot the bill to an event.

In my opinion yes, I agree with the cue some of these funds could be going to better causes, but they could be going to better causes WITHIN Scottish pool.

However, these are discussions for another time and should not detreact from what I am sure will be a great buffet.

Ok purely so that my "silence" can't be misinterpreted, i disagree with money being taken out for other charities. The idea came about to raise money for a specific event in order that for the 1st time EVER the Scotland players can represent their country and it only cost them time/holidays/spending money/relationships and not an arm and a leg as well. Any talk of players winning thousands and thousands of pounds and giving nothing back is intended to be nothing other than inflammatory and applies to very few if any of the full delegation. I for one dread to think how much i have paid over the years in order to represent Scotland at events and while i continue to do so and consider it a privilege, its not ideal. Apart from anything else, by raising funds to help it means that it is no longer an event purely for the better off players which is surely a positive thing? As for charities i donate to various charities, two of them by direct debit - how about you? As for the couple of players who do make some sort of living - how many of them are really getting rich from this - and at what personal/long term career cost - do you want to swap places with them?

High horses springs to mind...
Claire
