Looking for advice on the rules:

One of our guys in the league came accross the following:

During the Doubles - One player (not his shot) pointed with his cue where he wanted the cue ball left for the next shot, he touched the cloth with the tip of his cue - the other team said this was two shots.

Me personally - not too shots

If someone can clarify this rule thanks?

Don't think partner should be touching the table with his cue as you could use your tip to make chalk mark to show where your partner needs to hit a cushion etc

If your local rules state you cant 'talk' - I'd assume they mean 'communicate', pointing at a ball, a bag or touching the cloth is not on for me. Think I'd have called a foul but I'm not qualified ref, so lets see what a real ref says ..................

Have to agree with Maxi on that one. If you didn't call foul for that, there would be nothing stopping the players deliberately marking the table between shots.

It's a harsh foul, but harsh in the same vein as accidentally touching a ball, etc.

if its in the Coatbridge League ...

then it will be fine because ye can talk in the Doubles...

as its alternate shots...

so pointing to a spot on the table would be allowed.....

just like it is when we watch it in the 9Ball...

if its not the Coatbridge League and ye cant talk...

then its classed as coaching...

then its a foul....

simples...

in saying that.... my team played Elders last week...

and the Elders player was reffing...

whilst reffing was constantly on his phone all through the match..

txtn etc...

and despite bringing it up during the game....

still nothing was done about it...

but that's the Glasgow League though...

and if yer an Elders players...

ye get away wae everything...

stir

I've never seen them at the World Cup of Pool resting the tip of their cue on the table when telling their partner where to leave the white. Pointing is one thing, touching the table with the tip of your cue is another.

I don't see it specifically referred to in the rules but if its done at a time when conferring is allowed I can't see how it can be a foul.

I didn't think these arguments still went on tbh.

So its perfectly ok for your partner to poke a chalk mark on the table indicating where he wants the white?

Grin

I think there is a point where the conduct is questionable, eg the deliberate "poking" of chalk marks etc. Then there is a point where some desperado is just trying to claim a foul. I'll take evens this was "b".

After the deadline for payment has passed and when the payments have been collated to ensure everyone has paid. I'd estimate tomorrow (Monday) evening.
