Happy to inform the players that the Jackie Paterson 5 person team events will be held at Pettycur Bay over the weekend of 6/8th May.
The teams who attended last year, will once again be given a certain amount of time to enter before I open it up to others.
So for the full month of January only the teams that attended this year can enter the event.
Teams that did not come this year can still enter on here and I will list them in order of date of entry, this way I believe will be fair on every team.
The event is limited to only 48 teams and will be played on a round robin basis as per the previous years before.
Costs are as follows £40 per player[ max 6] plus entry fee of £50 per team.
Prize fund this year will be £3000 based on 48 teams entering.
There will also be a small plate event for the 16 teams that do not make the knockout stages, the winners of this will get their entry/accommodation paid for in 2017.
One other thing a donation will be made to the Mick McGoldrick Foundation from this event and the Ronnie Ferrier National Nines being played in September.
As from previous years, only one superstar per team and players have to play from the same IM area, unless they are not members of the IM in which case these teams will be checked by myself to make sure that they are not bringing in players from all over the place
No money/entry fee will be taken for this event until after January.
The format based on 48 teams attending will be groups of 6 teams all playing 10 frames, so the match could be drawn.
Two points for a win, one point for a draw.
Points first, then frames for next, then if same, result in match between both teams, if drawn, then one frame play off.
Top 4 teams go through to knockout stages, with winners from one section playing a fourth team from another section and a second team from one section playing a third team from another section in the last 32.
Prize fund based on 48 teams;
Winners £1200
Runners Up £600
Semi x 2 £300
Quarters x 4 £150
This event is a fun event, no dress code and ALL Scottish players are allowed to send teams to this, we have had just last year a good few players who were not SPA players playing in this event, who went back to their leagues informing them of BB rules etc and who have now got their leagues to join with the SPA and this can only help us grow each year.
