Don't get this at all, entries have been taken and where ever you entered from you play out of.

Once you have struck a ball in ANY SPA event you are then tied to that affiliated league for the entire calendar year for all SPA events. Players cannot interchange between areas for individual events.

To be clear, SPA events include all of the SPA Tours.

I didn't think the Tours (i.e. Snrs Tour) had any bearing on where you play anything else!!!

You don't need to say "Put my name in for the next Snrs. Event, i'm from Uddingston, or, at least, i've never seen it.

It makes absolutely no difference where you play any Tour Events, bar the Scottish and the I.M's.

Sorry Antz, the Seniors and Masters tours are the SPA ranking events that we use/help for our selection policy and as such any player who plays in them are playing in official SPA events.

This is completely wrong Ross and Bash, there has never been a case of being tied to an area by playing in one of the tours as you don't enter via your area but only as an individual!!!

I don't believe we are wrong. Previously the tours were run by individuals who wanted to promote events for these categories. As they have grown these Tours have fallen under the SPA's banner and as such are now recognised with an affiliated ranking structure and assist towards national selection.

These tours (Masters, Seniors etc) are not entirely different from the IM events.

You don't enter via your local IM area rep submitting your entry though.

Where someone who doesn't play in IM's, Supers, Singles, Doubles etc and they just stick there name on a forum post in a website how do you determine the area they are playing from for a Seniors or Masters tour?

Thats true Mulson but it also true that these are the official SPA tours for Seniors and Masters players, as Michael has pointed out and as such, Michael does ask the person which area he/she comes from when entering these events.

The only difference is that unlike the Scottish/WMc or Supers the player himself enters these events and pays directly to the SPA committee at those events and if he/she does not , they are then banned by the SPA until payment is made.

No matter which way you look at it, if someone enters an official SPA event then that player, comes under that area for that season.

I would assume that for this to be the case that a motion would be required to be passed at an spa meeting to include the tours in said way..would it not...
And would be from the start of the following seasons tour..as things can not be change during a tour..as per same rules regarding ims etc..?

Surely you can only be tied to an area for spa comps that are open to everyone I.e supers and I'm's and Scottish the rest have restrictions

Willie McCartney is not opened to anyone, still restricted to the SPA rules.

You are both 100% wrong here.

Sorry Ross and Michael, but you can't just declare on a whim that NOW your tied to an area when you enter a seniors event.

So are U15s, U18s, U23s, Ladies tied to an area when they enter a tour event?

Of course not as you don't enter via your area.

Hence why for the first couple seniors events they were split between venues as you couldn't do a pro rata as you don't enter via your local area.

Funnily enough, I thought all along, that I was right, and Ross and Michael were both up the lum!!!!!
Let me put this in capitals, now read it slowly, and twice if required...........
NEITHER OF YOU 2, CAN JUST SIMPLY DECIDE TO MAKE UP A NEW RULE, WHICH DOESN'T COINCIDE WITH OTHER RULES, WITHOUT FIRSTLY BRINGING IT UP AT AN SPA MEETING, HAVING IT VOTED ON, BY THE MEMBERS, NOT BY YOU 2 AND PASSED, AGAIN, AT AN SPA MEETING!!!!!!!
Is it just me, or do the rules just totally escape some people??????

In my experience, there's always been a massive difference between NOT BELIEVING YOU'RE WRONG and KNOWING YOU'RE RIGHT!!!!

Just saying...Wink

What have I missed ?
We do ask players what area they're from when they enter the Seniors events if we don't already have that info & if you look at the ranking list each player does have they're area next to name but as far as senior events tying the player to that area for all SPA events that's news to me ....but if a player has stated his area to us then obv that's the area they want to be tied to anyway surely ??
