Great job again son, don't think that players understand that u go through lots more than say entries to make sure things are right.

there,s defo no fairness there , league,s with 3 or 4 getting 1 place ,
Glasgow with 23 getting 4 , i may be biased here Ross , shouldn,t those smaller entry,s be put in with another area close by

What was the pro rata ??

Glasgow 23 entries 4 qualifiers

Asking the question because I find it hard to believe that an area gets 1 place for 3 entries

trigger,

It is completely fair. I don;t see why not, it's straight forward because each area gets their own proportionate allocation of qualifiers based on the number of qualifiers available.

Areas which don't have enough entries for a qualifying place are joined together until they have sufficient pro-rata to warrant one.

scooby,

The Pro-Rata was 1 in 5.064.

I'll try explain the Pro-Rata based upon the areas you've stated.

Glasgow have 23 entries. So that's 23/5.064 = 4.542 minus your 4 qualifiers = 0.542
Inverness/Forres have 3 entries. So that's 3/5.064 = 0.593

Inverness/Forres have a higher pro-rata for a qualifier than Glasgow, hence any additional places available after the whole numbers are deducted they've received one.

It doesn't matter now, but if Glasgow had one more entry, they'd have been higher in the list for the pro-rata and likely received one further entry.

I hope this helps.

Understand but why does an area that gets 3 entry receive a place

They receive a place due to their standing in the pro-rata. There are 63 places available in total. With Glasgow's Pro-Rata they receive 4 of them. Other areas get their share of 'whole' places. The 63 places are not all taken up when all of the whole numbers are used therefore the pro-rata decimals are then used to rank the remaining places.

Should areas with less than the pro rata for 1 place not be put in with the closest area??
Thus giving the areas that have a good lot of entries another place perhaps
Think that's what he means!!

I.e..Dingwall in with Inverness
Whitburn in with Livingston

Etc..

Never done that way Vinny.

When you do a pro rata you use as stated by the SPA the decimal point to make up the 63/127, always have always will.

You see that is why the SPA do not allow players/doubles to be added after the cut off date or allow leagues to know the total in case they work it out for themselves.

As long as a league has enough, using the decimal point, to make up the entry then they get it, just luck i'm afraid but the fairest way for all.

It's happened like this loads of times and it will happen again at the singles this year.
