No I really am Pete, because if players are not selected on merit by using rankings etc , then I will be asking the questions why not.

As I said before, the best players should get selected if available and then the rest should be the same for the trials.

I am all for having managers having different opinions but what point on players playing great all season and being up in the rankings when managers don't bother to ask them in, or to even trial.

Again, as I said before, the Exec select the managers but I cannot assure you all right here and now, unless these managers start looking at who they are selecting, i will be asking for them to be removed from those positions.

Whats the point in having a manager pick a team to start with? Would it not be better for the SPA to pick all teams then and just appoint a captain ?

Sorry John, Slack, its my opinion that managers should select the best available players for their teams, not themselves.

I am not saying there are not some players out there that can be a player manager but they have to have, again in my opinion the results behind them.

why should a person put themselves up to manage a team and have the right to select themselves before others who have did far better than them over the year/s .

Its the SPA duty to make sure that this does not happen, as its unfair on others who have done well in the tours etc, to lose out to whom? a person who has done nothing at all but can select himself/herself because they are the manager and you think that is right.

As for myself asking these people to be removed, well again in my opinion it does matter Slack, I am after all the President of the SPA and if I feel something is wrong I will fight for it to be corrected.

Would an option be to have the manager to select their team and submit this to some sort of SPA selection committee who can then approve or raise any concerns with the team manager over players picker/omitted and ask the manager to justify the selection or ultimately to amend. Just a thought.

Thatís the way I see it too, have a manager in place too pick his OWN team, but away from it all have like a wee selection committee with great knowledge of all players in Scotland,if they think the manager is picking pals etc then they can have the chance too question his picks

That sounds just fine, I'm not trying to stop any manager from selecting players they think are right for their team but we all know and its been this way for years that some managers select certain players they see week in week out because they play in their league or even team and don't give others who have done well in events a chance.

That was the real reason I asked for trials, that way some players at least get a chance but I do think the time is past where managers just select themselves and others to play who have not proven anything in the events that the SPA do and that is wrong.

Ross should be man enough to say who he is aiming this at, is it as johnny not being good enough for the b team, rab not being good enough to move up a level himself despite being a proven winner with good stats, or mike being good enough period to play for the team he selects.

Which one is it Ross?
