£5 registration fee passed at meeting today
by: geegee1984, 08-07-2018 05:03 PM (#1)

If true what an absolute joke you all are who voted for it
As an ordinary pool player I already contribute to all spa events with little or no hope of getting money back from entering

Now I have to pay for the honour of paying money to participate in tournaments that I wonít win money from

Well done all and once again the ordinary player is shafted to support the elite player

Robbing NO SWEARING!!s

Dont agree with you very often garry but your spot on guys already pay to enter comps that they know they have no chance of qualifiying so asking them to pay an extra £5 to fill the big guns pockets is a shambles this will on see a decrease in players enting comps then you will see more teams folding from different areas as players are not willing to pay the £5 which is being forced on them

Apparently they voted a while back to change the way votes are done so they don't actually have to tell the members before the reps turn up at the meeting.
I would say it's unconstitutional but there's no constitution

To be fair this was a proposal made by John Brownlie at the AGM but it had to come back to next meeting to be voted on which has happened.

If your rep did not pass this info on then you should bring it up with them.

Although to be fair there has still not been any minutes posted so this is all hearsay

What did this mean? Does every player need to pay £5 to the SPA?

Does the £50 affiliation fee still apply?

first you make the venues have to pay £25 yearly fee to advertise events,
now your making the members pay £5 each to be able to play in events they pay to enter already.
seriously becoming an organisation that just wants to shaft the people and places that suppoet them..

this is an outragious decision that im sure will see a decrease in players entering spa events and leagues affiliated with them.. venues are already oissed off with the fee forced upon them..now your gonna NO SWEARING!! the players off aswell...

i can see it now when the leagues have to go to there teams when the leagues stsarts back and ask them for £5 a player...can see a lot of leagues been asked to withdraw there membership

no need what so ever to introduce this....

I wasn't at the AGM. I've been proposing this on and off for about fifteen years. I think it was proposed by Santa. However it seems that the minutes of the AGM have not been distributed to the members. Which is a poor show.

Don't ask that question, it's not allowed, SPA money has been used for loads over the years, sending players to comps, gastric bands, you name it.

Meetings of spa committee to discuss idea's are good but when it comes to votes and passing on info then they pass the buck . Minutes of meetings and proposals should be forwarded to each league, I'd imagine that's the Secretary's job .
There's loads of leagues the length and breadth of the country there's no way they could be expected to attend. In this age of modern technology if the information is passed to the league then every league can submit a vote, it's pretty fookin simple
