How can you pair ayr and district with east Ayrshire
Then give Doon valley 1 spot for 2 entries when you can spit they're
From Ayr.
A+d/doon valley
Central/east should have been the split

Doon Valley have enough entries for their own qualifier via the pro-rata.

East Ayrshire had one entry, which was insufficient for their own qualifier and joined Ayr & District.

Before I go any further, you do know how a pro-rata works, yes?

That's the starting point yes. That doesn't then equate to whole numbers for the areas though. How are they then differentiated?

1 qualifier for every 4.2 entries
Doesn't matter what way you want to
Cut it up.

So if you have an area with 10 entries, how many qualifiers will they receive? Going by your rationale they should have 2.381 entries. How does 0.381 of a pairing qualify?

Seems the only thing getting cut up here would be qualifiers.

East fife/west fife? Don't no geographically how far apart

Martyn, its a bit more complex than that, The pro-rata is based on the number of entries an area has, always has been, now I know you'll be aware of that. So, the more entries an area has the greater share of the qualifiers they get. When the pro-rata is calculated (266/3) it gives a number to deduct from the calculation of the areas share. So the areas entry is also then used to give the number of entries per pro-rata number. So for example, in my comment above, 10 entries is calculated at 2.368 this year. So they have two entries and 0,368 remaining. 2 entries divided by the pro-rata is 0.474. So any additional spaces after the whole numbers are divided up go to the areas with 2 spaces first.

Thats why areas with 2/3 entries get their own qualifier also.

Same as the singles etc. One area might have 40 entries and get 8 qualifiers, an area might have 41 but get 9.

Now I have waffled a but here and it might not all make sense, hopefully it is clear though (as mud!)
