  2019 Scottish Doubles Area Draws
by: FCBash, 13-07-2019 08:24 PM (#1)

Please find below the link to the 2019 Scottish Doubles area qualifying draws.

Can Reps please note that the deadline for names of qualifiers is Sunday 11th August, this is one week before the event and will maximise the time to each area to play their qualifiers.

Races are first to 5 in the local qualifying.

Remember, the format for the Scottish Doubles Championships will be Scotch Doubles. This means that players will play alternate SHOTS during each visit.

Good luck to everyone involved.

Michael this is not a dig at you, you do a great job lol

Trying to arrange ties when 2 areas are clubbed together is a nightmare and needs looked at big time then the turnaround time is a joke. Potentially trying to arrange 3 cross border ties in basically a 3 week period is scandalous.

Not Michaels fault as you say.

If anyone its mine as the promoter.

More time needed with running qualifiers for national events and next year we will do far better as we will detail entry fees at different times for our events, thus making sure plenty of time is given to running the qualifiers.

So as it's scotch doubles and alternative shots, can players talk to each other between each shot?

No.

You are asking if players can talk each shot, NO.

They can talk until as I said one of them go to take their shot and then if he or she pots the ball, they cannot then talk again, they do not talk until their visit is finished.

Ross/michael/tournament director

When 2 areas are put together?
Im asking for a neutral venue and all im getting is we have to travel nearly
1 hr to play in there turf? Surely this isn't correct? I've offered 2 venues for them to choose which are neutral but they're saying we have to go to them.
Whats the ruling

Martyn,

The area reps were advised that when areas are combined it is the responsibility of the area with least entries that will be required to travel to the lead area (area with most entries).

I do ask that players try and accommodate as best they can, we are all adults at the end of the day. However, if a neutral venue cannot be agreed between the players involved then the lead Area Rep would have to make the decision for the pairings.

Hope this helps in some way.

Michael

Its no ideal when the guys your playing live 1 hr away from where there league is situated. As i said previously things need to change next year.

Scrap that!
Just been told that these guys don't even play in Ayr and district league
And were told by Spa to enter through there even though its further than
Going to dumfries. Id like to know who made this ludicrous decision?
Im now asking the tournament director to step in and try resolve this
Issue as id be quicker trying to arrange a first to 5 with maddie McCann than
Getting these 2 out the mountains!!!
