Hi Michael,

Just wanted to run somthing by you.

Match 27:
Paul Crawford vs Steven Walker

Both of these players qualified from the Cumbernauld area. Can they meet in the first round? Not sure if this is correct and thought I would question it.

Great work as always bud

Can players please note that from Alan ONeli post above onwards, these are the only ones that are call offs, any ones before that , were for the event, if it was played in March.

These players may be making the event now.

We held our postponed Mick McGoldrick IM one at the weekend there, Iím not going into the no shows as I have already went through that on previous posts.

However I want to concentrate on the positives of the event, for the players that did turn up.

Last 16 results ;

Kevin McLeod beating Paul Cruickshank 7/6
David Farrell beating Andy McKinnon 7/6
Liam Dunster beating Alan Reynolds snr 7/2
Ryan Davie beating Shaun Wishart 7/3
Ross Fernie beating Scott Gillespie 7/2
Pete Smith beating Brian Thomson 7/4
Mark Boyle beating Robert Stephen 7/1
Marc Fleming beating Alan Sunders 7/4

Last 8 results;

David Farrell beating Kevin McLeod 7/3
Ross Fernie beating Liam Dunster 7/3
Ryan Davie beating Pete Smith 7/4
Mark Boyle beating Marc Fleming 7/6

Semis;

Mark Boyle beating Ryan Davie 7/0
Ross Fernie beating David Farrell 7/4

Final Ross Fernie beating Mark Boyle 8/2

From the report I got from the TD of the day, he said this, Ryan Davie brilliant all day until the semis and never got a shot?
Pete Smith oldest player left and did great.
Dunster, rubbish
Fleming mucked up his last shot at 6 all with Boyle otherwise another good event for him.
Farrell , ran out of steam near the end.

Fernie, different class all day, first IM win, surprising if you keep off the lager.

For me, the last part said it all, young Fernie is a lovely boy with so much talent, I thought he had won a few IMs long before now but I was wrong, however after these results, beating what I would call Scotland's 3 best players at this time, shows what he can do once off the lager and on his game and it will only make him more hungry for more success.

My thanks to all 3 venues, along with the 3 TDs and 3 refs and John for coming to stream the final day.

At the end of this month we have IM 3 in Arbroath Dundee and Kirkcaldy, I ask all players who have qualified, if they cannot attend the event to let the SPA know by posting on their website or on the SPA Facebook page or even my own Facebook page, I totally understand that things can come up at the last minute and you cannot make the finals but it does help if you can inform your opponent asap.

17 of top 64

28 of 65-128

63 of 129-256

That looks about right based on commitment to the game. It looks a little high from top 64, is that about usual?
